This policy tells you which data the FlowCast app collects, where FlowCast sends data, and how you control it.

Work that FlowCast does on the computer

FlowCast does this work on the computer, without a server:

  • Speech recognition. The speech model operates on the computer.
  • The verse search, the search by meaning, and the search of the Detected panel. The search models and the verse index come with FlowCast.
  • Fluid Intelligence, when you turn it on. The model operates on the computer.

FlowCast keeps your schedules (.flowcast files) and the history on the computer. The usage data also records the items that you send live. Refer to Usage data that FlowCast collects.

Usage data that FlowCast collects

FlowCast collects usage data to make its speech recognition and passage detection better. The usage data has these parts:

  • The start of FlowCast, with the version of FlowCast and of the operating system.
  • The errors of FlowCast and of its windows.
  • The items that you send live, and the references and commands that FlowCast hears.
  • The transcript of each listening, the passages that the Detected panel finds, and the lines that Fluid Intelligence corrects.
  • The audio of each listening, as a WAV file.
  • A random ID for the computer. This ID keeps the uploads of one computer together.

Collection is on at first. To turn it off or on, click File › Collect Usage Data. If you turn it off during a listening, FlowCast deletes the audio of that listening.

Upload of usage data

FlowCast uploads the usage data to the storage of the FlowCast team. The storage is a Cloudflare R2 bucket. FlowCast uploads the usage data at these times:

  • When FlowCast starts.
  • After each listening.

After each upload, FlowCast deletes the uploaded data from the computer. If an upload is not successful, for example when the computer is offline, FlowCast keeps the data for the next upload.

The upload is on at first. To keep the usage data on the computer, do these steps:

  1. Click the Settings button in the top bar.
  2. Click Usage data.
  3. Turn off Upload usage data.

Export of usage data

To save the usage data that is on the computer in a ZIP file, click File › Export Usage Data….

Other use of the internet

FlowCast also uses the internet for these items:

  • The speech model. The first time that you click Listen, FlowCast downloads the speech model (approximately 600 MB on a Mac, 670 MB on Windows).
  • The Fluid Intelligence model. FlowCast downloads this model only when you click Download in Settings › Transcript. On a Mac, if FluidVoice downloaded the model, FlowCast uses that copy.
  • Fonts. When you import ProPresenter slides, FlowCast downloads the fonts of the slides from Google Fonts the first time. FlowCast then keeps the fonts on the computer.
  • Bible versions. When you download a version in Settings › Bible versions, FlowCast downloads it from eBible.org. FlowCast keeps downloaded versions on the computer.
  • Updates. FlowCast looks for an update only when you click Check for Updates…. The updates come from the FlowCast releases on GitHub.

Web page of the audience screen

FlowCast can show the audience screen on a web page, for a video call. The page is at http://127.0.0.1:4750/, or at a different port if a different program uses port 4750. Only this computer can open the page.
